Welcome to the CARE website! This new feature will enable you to read
newsletters online, get information about current happenings, and in
general, get up-to-date news about items of special interest to CARE
members. Special features too long for our printed newsletter will also
show up here. We encourage you to visit our website early and often, and
to contribute items of interest as well.
CARE (Chabot-Las Positas Association of Retired
Employees) is a collegial organization, created to serve the economic
and social interests of its members as described in its Constitution and
Bylaws. We seek to maintain friendliness, openness, and informality in
all our dealings with one another.
Every employee of Chabot College, Las Positas College,
or the District, automatically becomes a member of CARE upon retirement.
No fees or payment of any kind is a requirement of membership. However,
members are asked to pay annual dues to defray the costs of posting and
mailing the newsletter, and other costs of representing and
communicating with the membership.
The many benefits of CARE membership include
opportunities to participate in annual reunions and other social
activities, as well as a means to promote collegiality between the
campuses and to keep in touch with each other. CARE provides a liaison
between retirees and the district. A periodic newsletter announces
upcoming events and keeps members up to date.
Perhaps the most important function of CARE,
especially in recent times, is ADVOCACY. When challenges arise to
benefits or other retiree rights, CARE provides information and
leadership which can help us address any issues in a professional and
enlightened way.
For all these reasons, we encourage you to become an
active, involved member of CARE. Our organization will stay strong as
long as members continue to bring energy, enthusiasm, and a sense of
collegiality to our group. Again, welcome to CARE!
