1. NAME
The name of the Organization shall be Chabot-Las Positas Association of Retired
Employees.( C.A.R.E. )
2. PURPOSES
This shall be a collegial organization whose primary purpose is to serve the
economic and social interests of its members as provided by its Bylaws. It may
also assist the District and Colleges as it determines.
3. NATURE
The essential nature of this organization shall be one of informality, openness
and friendliness. It shall not be for profit. Any actions of the members, the
Board of Directors or officers contrary to this description shall be
inoperative.
4. MEMBERSHIP
All retirees from the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District are eligible
for membership and shall be members in accordance with the rules established in
the By-Laws. Membership includes the member's spouse or partner. Membership
continues for the surviving spouse or partner after the death of the member.
At its discretion, the Board of Directors may grant Honorary Membership as
provided in the Bylaws.
As provided by the Bylaws, the Board at its discretion, may
grant the title of "Director Emeritus" to members departing from the Board
and may grant the honorary title "C.A.R.E. Associate" to
an individual for meritorious support and contributions to the Association.
5. AMENDMENTS
Amendments to this Constitution must be approved by a two-thirds majority of the
members voting in person or by proxy at the annual meeting. Amendments may be
proposed and shall be submitted to the membership by twenty percent (20%) of the
members or by the Board of Directors. Amendments shall be effective upon
ratification unless otherwise directed.
